Killeen Road Bridge Construction

The works consisted of 1.2km of road realignment incorporating the construction of a new bridge, retaining walls and abutments over the Grand Canal and the removal of the existing pre-cast culvert, retaining walls and road section. The works included the diversion of existing utility services including 640m of 300mm diameter gas mains, ESB lines (overhead and buried), 1.2km of 150mm - 450mm diameter watermains, communication services and both foul and storm sewers. The construction of footpaths, cyclepaths, public lighting and both hard and soft landscaping. Extensive traffic management, canal over-pumping and liaison with Waterways Ireland was required to complete the works.
